Catchy title, eh? I should probably put a gratuitous baby picture in here to encourage folks to read this one.
Here you go:
For some reason, this photo looks like circa 1890, not circa 2003. Whatever. Cute is cute.
Anyway, just popping on here to let you know the exciting news that I have newly contracted with Cohosh Billing for all of your insurance billing needs. Clients will work directly with the lovely staff at Cohosh to manage their insurance billing.
I understand how important it is to you to be able to use your insurance for your care if you can. Insurance is such a great thing to have. And it’s such a headache. Isn’t that always the way, though? A little pain with your joy. Keeps everyone healthy, strong and on their toes. So, hooray for insurance companies who are willing to cover midwives and out of hospital births! Boo, for how challenging and complicated it all is. My goal is to minimize the pain and suffering as much as humanly possible.
Anyway, as a mostly one woman office (I hope that you will be seeing more of Hanna, though, as the practice grows), who is skilled in many things and takes joy in providing care and running my own business, I have to say that insurance billing is the least joyful thing about my work. It can take an inordinate amount of time to follow up and track everything down, and it’s a task that I’m glad to outsource. Cohosh Billing has it set up so that it doesn’t add to my costs for providing you excellent care. Winning all around! You get your insurance billed, I get to hang out with you and snuggle your babies.
Billing for maternity care cannot happen until after the birth. All insurance bill clients are under the same financial agreement as everyone else in my care. Once you birth, I will submit a document to Cohosh, detailing the services provided to you, with the charges listed in your financial agreement. They will take care of the rest–filing claims, follow-up, and communicating with you about how those claims are processing. Because I am out of network with all insurances, any reimbursement for my care is typically sent directly to the client. If your insurance company should send a check to me, I will promptly refund you that amount.
Cohosh Billing will do a verification of benefits for you, for a minimal charge, to help you to determine if it will make sense to proceed with billing. You may do that as you are deciding to come into care, or soon after you make your decision. To begin that process, head here and click on the yellow “Midwives’ Clients” button near the bottom of the page. This will take you to the information form to fill out to initiate service with Cohosh Billing.
As always, let me know if you have thoughts, questions or concerns.
Here’s another cute baby, as a reward for making it though to the end of the post:
